What is pet euthanasia?

Euthanasia is a humane practice that brings your pet’s life to an end. We inject a strong dose of medication (usually the drug called pentobarbital) that causes their heart to stop. It is a painless process for them.

Am I allowed to be in the room?

Yes, we welcome it. We like to give pet owners and their furry companions a final moment before we administer the injection. On the other hand, we’re aware how emotionally agonizing this experience is and understand if pet owners do not want to be in the room. To ease the process, it’s ideal for your pet to have an item they love or are familiar with in the room with them.

How do I prepare for the euthanasia process?

Once you’ve decided your pet is ready for euthanasia, you should let your family and friends know. Allow them an opportunity to say goodbye. If your family has small children, this may be especially confusing or difficult for them. Give them patience and lots of grace as they process this change to your family dynamic. It’s also important to know what you want to do with your pet’s body. You can bury them in a pet cemetery or have them cremated following a celebratory memorial.
