Nutrition counselling focuses on your pet’s dietary needs. When people hear the word “diet”, they usually think of nutritional methods to encourage weight loss. However, for pets, the goal is not always to lose weight. Our nutritional consultations center your pet’s overall well-being. We can teach you about the appropriate foods to feed your pet and monitor their health as they age. With our support, you will receive optimal guidance regarding your pet’s nutritional needs for each stage of their life, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. What can we learn during a pet nutritional consultation?

Nutritional consultations are especially helpful for new pet owners. There are a lot of myths about what is appropriate to feed your pet. Speaking with an expert in animal care can clarify what is safe and what is unhealthy. If you are not a new pet owner, our services are still very helpful. We provide knowledge on your pet’s dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance. We teach pet owners the best food for their furry friend’s immune system, recommend supplements and create nutritional plans if they are lacking the necessary nutrients.

Are nutritional consultations necessary for pets?

This depends on each pet’s individual case. Every veterinary appointment is an opportunity for us to weigh them, check their blood and discuss their eating habits with you, the person who knows them best! During those appointments we may make a few recommendations. However, if we’re particularly concerned about their health we will recommend a nutritional consultation.

The time has come to begin our reopening process! We cannot believe it has been over a year since we’ve had you all in the clinic but we are excited and eager to welcome you back. Please read carefully below for our updated policies and protocols.


  • Effective October 20, 2021, we will be allowing vaccinated clients in the clinic for doctors’ appointments only. Technician appointments and medication/food pick up will continue to be curbside to control the amount of people in the clinic at any given time.
  • We will be allowing one client to accompany their pet in the appointment. Because we will only be allowing one client in at a time, we will not be able to permit children to accompany their parents. There is a strict one-client rule due to the size of our examination rooms.
  • When you arrive for your appointment, please give the clinic a call at 905-597-7373. A Client Care Representative will either let you know the technician is ready to meet you at the door or will retrieve a phone number if we are not quite ready yet.
  • A technician will meet you at the front door. Please have your vaccine passport/identification ready at this time. The technician will also ask you a few COVID-19 Screening questions before guiding you into the clinic.
  • Face masks are still required to enter the hospital and must be worn properly at all times within the clinic and when interacting with our team members outside.
  • Please sanitize your hands upon entry.
  • Continue the use of credit cards as the preferred payment method.

    We appreciate advance notice for food and prescription refills. Please call 905.597.7373 upon arrival at the FRONT DOOR and a receptionist will be out with your order right away.
